Retreat: The Blessing Way of the Aramaic Jesus
a retreat with Neil Douglas-Klotz
When: Friday-Sunday, April 25-27, 2025
Where: Shalom Spirituality Center
1001 Davis St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001 (map)
Description
An introduction to the spiritual practice and contemplative prayer of Jesus viewed through the lens of his native Aramaic language. Including meditation, chanting, body prayer, walking meditation, contemplative prayer, and Dances of Universal Peace. This retreat will focus on selected short sayings and words of Jesus from throughout the Gospels that reveal the depth of teaching hidden in his ancient native language, cosmology and way of viewing the world. We will center on what he has to say during his own challenging, turbulent times about blessing, happiness, joy, limitation, present moment awareness, and guidance.
Individual key words will be chosen as seeds for contemplative prayer and meditation. Longer phrases will be used in more active practice, including walking meditation and circle dance with chanting in the form of Dances of Universal Peace. The aim is for retreatants to be able to take with them a deeper experience of Yeshua’s way of blessing and healing, which can develop into an ongoing personal practice.

The retreat begins Friday evening at 7 p.m. and concludes at noon on Sunday.
